Rotary Club of Jamestown honors Paul Harris Fellow recipients

[galleryids=1403195,1403196,1403197]At its recent changeover ceremony and Presidential honors ceremony, members of the Rotary Club of Jamestown honored recipients of the Paul Harris Fellow Award.
The award is one of Rotary International's highest honors, given to people who have been honored with a $1,000 or more contribution to The Rotary Foundation. Clubs also use it to thank individuals for their strong community service.
This year Amy Anderson, wife of Rotarian Chris Anderson, received recognition for her efforts working with the club's Literacy Committee, promoting the reading program at Bush Elementary School where she teaches. Each year she assembles a list of times for Rotarians to visit the classrooms and read selected books to members of several different grades.
The Andersons are also active in the cClub's Student Exchange Program; Chris Anderson is a counselor for incoming foreign exchange students, and the couple has opened their home to many students over the past years for three-month stays. They have often received visits from these students later in their lives.
Amy Anderson said she was delighted to receive the award, citing that while she herself is not a member of the club, she feels close to all the members and students through all of these activities. Foremost she said she is proud of the work that Rotary has done to instill a love of reading in these young people.
Marion Beckerink was presented with her fourth Paul Harris Award for supporting the Rotary Foundation. Beckerink is a member and monthly donor of the Paul Harris Society. A past president of the Rotary Club of Jamestown in 2024, she is now serving her second term as assistant district governor of District 7090 which encompasses the more than 70 Rotary Clubs in this International District reaching from Jamestown north to Hamilton, Ontario, and east to Ellicottville.
Michelle Jones, past president, was honored with her third award for her leadership as president in 2025-26 and her fourth Paul Harris Award for her support of The Rotary Foundation.
Money raised through the Paul Harris Awards support global projects like clean water, education, disease treatment and polio eradication.
