Post 1280 Auxiliary holds summer picnic

CASSADAGA – The Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary Unit 1280 held its summer "dish-to-share" get-together recently with one junior and nine senior members attending.

Prayer was given before dinner by Patricia Hayward. A short informal meeting followed the dinner that began with Patricia Hayward presenting junior member Shayleigh Albaugh with a thank you and an Eighth District/Department Award for her work with veterans and their programs. The Legion-Auxiliary-Son's July Fourth family picnic was well attended. Cassadaga's National Night Out, August 5th, at the Johnny Fessenden's ball fields was attended by local, county and state first responders as well as the community.

Unit 1280's famous pie and dessert sales have taken place throughout the summer with the final one on Tuesday, Aug. 25, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the legion.

Upcoming events include the Cassadaga Labor Day Weekend celebration, in conjunction, the Legion-Auxiliary-Son's will be holding a take-out only chicken barbecue Sunday, Sept. 6 from noon until sold out, and there will be a parade down Main Street, Monday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m.

The Eighth District Fall Conference will be held Sept. 5 at Post 1041, Buffalo.

The post's annual vendor show will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24.

The next post meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the legion hall.
