The Civil Air Patrol New York Wing encampment recently took place at Hancock Field operated by the Air National Guard.
Four cadets from Jamestown Civil Air Patrol Squadron attended basic encampment: C/TSgt Dawson Benson, C/MSgt Elouise Bilott, C/CMSgt Sarah Dorman and C/Amn Samuel Fitch. C/CMSgt Colton Hagg attended the advanced training school.
At basic encampment, cadets work each morning at 5:30 a.m. and begin their day with physical exercise and training before breakfast. Many cadets have the chance to experience orientation flights, operating a Civil Air Patrol Cessna in flight. C/TSgt Dawson Benson, C/MSgt Elouise Bilott, C/CMSgt Sarah Dorman and C/Amn Samuel Fitch were recognized on Sunday, July 26, as graduates of basic encampment. In the Civil Air Patrol program, they are now able to attend national training and leadership events, as well as earning a part of the Billy Mitchell Award requirements.
C/CMSgt Colton Hagg attended the advanced training which consisted of leadership and color guard training, more specific classes and opportunities. He also graduated from that training on July 26.
