First Lutheran to host former pastor Sunday

The Rev. Charles (Rusty) D. May and his daughter, the Rev. Jennifer May Kopacz, will be pulpit guests and celebrant, at First Lutheran Church on Sunday, Aug. 9, at both the 9 a.m. contemporary service and the 10:30 a.m. traditional worship services. Holy Communion will be observed at both services.
May, now a retired Lutheran pastor, and his wife, Pamela (PJ) Josselyn May, live in the state of Delaware. After serving as pastor of First Lutheran Church, the Mays went to North Fort Myers, Fla., where Mays served as pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church for many years.
Pastor Jennifer May Kopacz, who is married to Robert Kopacz, was raised in Jamestown and educated in the Jamestown Public Schools during her father's ministry at First Lutheran Church. Kopacz is the pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Tallahassee, Fla. She is serving the Lutheran House at Chautauqua Institution as clergy for the week during the week of Aug. 2-8.
The Sacred Fire Praise Team, directed by Kimberly King, will lead worship at the 9 a.m. contemporary service. Music for the 10:30 a.m. traditional worship will be provided by Brian A. Bogey, organist/choirmaster, with Peter and Kimberly Larson, singing a vocal duet "God Is So Wonderful" by Virginia Marshall. Peter Larson will be liturgist with Julie Livengood, lector. The hymn cantor will be Marika Koch. A coffee hour will take place in the church parlors between the two services. The public is welcome to attend.
