County Fair goat program winners announced

The winners of the Chautauqua County 4-H Program goat contest have been announced.

Youth were judged by Nate Funk, Chenango Hills, N.Y., and Market Classes in which animals were judged on respective breed standards and in Market Classes on finish and projected carcass quality. Market Goat participants sold their animals at the 4-H Meat Animal .

Wednesday's Goat Show results are:

Goat Senior Showmanship: Tianna Bova, Abigail Carlberg and Hunter Bova.

Goat Junior Showmanship: Lu Jones, Onna Warner and Tess Speck

Goat Novice Showmanship: Aidalynn Norton-Reyes, Jamie Smith and Nora Brown.

Grand Champion Showman is a class composed of first and second place participants from every division. Tianna Bova won the class as Master Showman. Reserve Grand Champion Showman was taken by Abigail Carlberg. Tianna Bova won the class as Master Showman when competing against previous Master Showman Kendall Eckman and Levi Overend.

Cloverbuds are 4-H members between the ages of 5 and 8 who participate in non-competitive animal activities. This year, 11 youth participated in the 4-H Goat Cloverbud Program and exhibited their goats in the 4-H Goat Show. 4-H Goat participants showed their animals in breeding classes in which the animals member received a blue ribbon and a donated gift. Cloverbud participants were: Vaeda Catanese, Kinsley Cunningham, Mallory Cunningham, Gannon Helwig, Matthew Helwig, Stetson Jones, Raven Lindsey, Navy Newell, Emelia Pavlock, Rudiger Pavlock and Jack Tarnowski.

4-H Goat participants showed their animals in breeding classes in which animals were evaluated on structure, balance, breed standards and body composition. The Best Junior Dairy Doe was Hunter Bova with Queen Anne's Lace. Best Senior Dairy Doe in Show was awarded to Hunter Bova with Bambeana.
