Southwestern Middle School students receive awards

Several Southwestern Middle School students have received awards and honors before the end of the school year. They are:

Kendal Bouckhuyt and Parker Colburn are Southwestern Middle School’s recipients for this year’s Triple “C” award. The faculty nominates students who have shown “Character, Courage, and Commitment” throughout their middle school years. These students were honored at the middle school awards assembly on June 17.

Kendal has shown strong commitment to academic success through hard work, dedication, and a positive attitude in the classroom. Along with maintaining high standards academically, Kendal consistently demonstrates responsibility, leadership, and respect for others, making her very deserving of the Triple C Award.

Parker Colburn shows great character, commitment, and courage every day through a positive attitude, hard work, and willingness to help others. Parker leads by example, stays dedicated to goals, and treats everyone with kindness and respect. Parker is very deserving of the Triple C Award.

Andrew Cama, an eighth-grade student at Southwestern Middle School, has been chosen by the faculty and staff to receive the Youth Citizenship Medal awarded by the Jamestown Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The award is given to a student who has proven to be outstanding during their years at the middle school in areas of character, scholarship, leadership, athletic achievement, participation in school activities, and civic responsibility.

Drayton Ross is Southwestern Middle School’s eighth grade recipient for this year’s New York State Civic Ambassador Award. The faculty nominates a student in recognition of their continued passion and knowledge for civics and government. Drayton is being recognized for his strong performance in social studies and his understanding of good citizenship. His hard work, responsibility, and respectful attitude show the qualities of a positive member of the school community.

Noah Lindell is Southwestern Middle School’s eighth grade recipient for this year’s New York State Comptroller Student Achievement Award. The faculty nominates students who have demonstrated leadership potential and a commitment to public service. Noah has shown academic excellence and the potential for leadership through involvement in activities that improve the school and/or the community.
