Randolph Academy board members recognized

[galleryids=140593, 140592, 140591] RANDOLPH – At a recent Randolph Academy Board of Education meeting, two board members were recognized by the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA) for their dedication to public education and commitment to board leadership.

Mary Myers was honored with the NYSSBA Level 4: Board Lifetime Achievement Award. Myers has served on the Randolph Academy Board of Education for 17 years and has served as board president for the past 10 years. The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes board members who have demonstrated leadership and a long-standing commitment to advancing public education through continued professional development and service.

Susan Locke-Scott, a four-year member of the Randolph Academy Board of Education, received the NYSSBA Level 2: Board Excellence Award. This award recognizes board members who have demonstrated a commitment to strengthening their governance skills through ongoing learning and leadership development.

Michael Cipolla, Randolph Academy superintendent, congratulated both board members on their recognition.

“On behalf of the district and our entire school community, we extend our sincere appreciation to Mary and Susan for their dedicated service to the Board of Education,” said Cipolla. "Throughout their tenure, they have been steadfast public education advocates and strong voices for education and students, consistently prioritizing their success and well-being. Their leadership and professionalism reflect the core principles and standards of the New York State School Boards Association, helping to guide our district with integrity and purpose. We are deeply grateful for their lasting contributions and the positive impact they have made on our school.”

The Board of Education also took time during the meeting to recognize former board member Scott Winterburn for his years of service and support of Randolph Academy. Winterburn has been a long-time advocate for the district.

During the recognition, Cipolla expressed the district’s gratitude for Winterburn’s leadership and service.

“On behalf of the district and our school community, I would like to extend our sincere appreciation for your dedicated service as a member of the Board of Education,” said Cipolla. “Throughout your tenure, you have been an unwavering advocate for students, consistently placing their needs and success at the forefront of every decision. Your strong support of the district’s policies, mission, and vision has helped guide our work with clarity and purpose.

“Your collegial approach and professionalism have fostered collaboration and mutual respect among your colleagues and the broader school community. Most importantly, your true character--marked by integrity, thoughtfulness, and a genuine commitment to public education--has truly embodied the high standards set forth by the New York State Education Department for school board members. Thank you for your leadership, your service, and your lasting impact on our students and schools.”
