Music Makers

By Jessica Rex 2 min read

Music on the Mountain will be held on Saturday, July 25, at War Memorial Field beginning at 7 p.m.

Friends and families will experience live music while the sun sets and the community comes together.

Art Lane, Music on the Mountain organizer, started the annual show in 2014. A Sheffield High School graduate, Lane became the Sheffield Music Booster president after helping to rejuvenate the school marching band. Inspired by the local Drum and Bugle Corps shows of the past and fueled by the energy of Johnsonburg "A Blast in the Burg," he formed a committee to bring the first DCI Open Class event to Wolverine Mountain.

Outgrown from its original space, the show will take place at the War Memorial Field on 306 Lexington Ave., Warren, for its third year. The show features Cincinnati Tradition, 7th Regiment, Gold, Latrobe Music Center, Les Stentors, Raiders, Rogues Hollow Regiment, Steel City Ambassadors and The Battalion, with a pre-show performance by the Allegheny Eclipse Color Guard.

Promoted by Sheffield Music Boosters, the event has remained a well received summer experience by the community, with visiting corps appreciating the hospitable welcome from the collective of individuals, organizations, and businesses that work year-round to keep the marching arts alive. Volunteers are needed and welcomed.

Sponsors include American Legion Post 135, Johnson's Tire Service, Sheffield Sports Boosters, Sheffield Container, United Refining, Pascuzzi Accounting & Tax Service, Watson Home, Calvert Pearson Insurance, Betts, City Ice and Beverage, Bethany Church of Sheffield, Clarendon Vets Fest, Warren Eagles and Warren Moose.

Advance tickets are $15 and $20 at the gate. Physical tickets are available at Sheffield Pharmacy and Crone’s Gifts & Medical Supply.

Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. A concession stand will be open from 4:30 to 11 p.m. Free shuttle service from Lexington Avenue and South Parker Street, near the United Refining Company offices from 4 to 7 p.m. Return transportation is from 10 to 11 p.m.

It is encouraged that attendees take advantage of the free shuttle to help reduce traffic and parking congestion around War Memorial Field.
