PANAMA – The Harmony Senior Citizens met recently at the Panama Methodist Church with 38 members and one guest present.
Cindy McIntyre recognized members celebrating birthdays in June as Toni Campbell and Donny Keller. Anniversaries were celebrated by George and Bonnie Froman and Fred and Laurie Russell. The Ashville Methodist Church is sponsoring a concert on Aug. 16 at 4 p.m. by the Jamestown Barbershop Quartet. Refreshments will follow. Mary Lou Garfield gave the treasurer’s report which will be held for audit in the fall. Wendie Raynor read the minutes of the June meeting. The minutes were approved as read. Laurie expressed sympathy on behalf of the members to Donny and Gail Keller for the recent loss of Donny's service dog, Buddy.
Dottie Enlow said the recent trip to Warren to see the John Denver Concert was a success with 31 members enjoying the concert and the dinner at New Beginnings in Sugar Grove. She is open for suggestions for future trips and is hoping to have something planned in August or September.
The August meeting will be Aug. 13 at 321 E. Terrace in Lakewood. Those attending should bring a dish to pass, their own table service, a beverage and a white elephant gift wrapped for bingo.Those attending should also bring lawn chairs.
Officers nominated for the coming year include June Whipple, president, Laurie Russell, vice president, Wendie Raynor, secretary, and Mary Lou Garfield, treasurer.
The next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 6 at noon at the Panama Methodist Church for the annual chicken barbecue. Members are asked to bring their own silverware to this meeting, with some members bringing deserts. Mary Lou and Carol Parnell will contact members who did not make reservations for the August meeting letting them know they have to make reservations if they plan to attend the chicken barbecue. Hosts for the meeting are Ellen Cofarro and Cindy McIntyre.
