Community Blood Bank To Host Blood Drive July 28
The Community Blood Bank will host a blood drive from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at Herman Kent Post 777, 26 Jackson Ave., West Ellicott. All donors receive a voucher for a free hot meal from the legion’s auxiliary. Call 814-456-4206 to schedule an appointment. Appointments are encouraged to reduce wait times but are not required. Walk-ins will be taken as space allows. The Community Blood Bank partners with hospitals in Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York to provide blood for patients in need. Donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and be in good general health as well as have a valid photo ID. Prior to donating, those giving blood should eat a good, solid meal and drink at least 18 ounces of water.

SHERMAN – The American Red Cross will host a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. July 28 at the Stanley Hose Company, 122 Park St., Sherman. All blood types are needed 1o ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver's license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 16 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
