You can support a local cause while solving a murder mystery at a special fundraising event on July 24 and 25 at Northwest Arena in Jamestown.

Lake and Lantern Events will be hosting “The Good, The Bad, and the Guilty,” an interactive Wild West murder mystery experience where participants gather clues, question suspects and work together to uncover the killer.

Proceeds from both nights of the fundraiser will benefit Jamestown Meals on Wheels and its Home-Delivered Meal Program.

“Jamestown Meals on Wheels is excited that Lake and Lanterns Events has chosen our organization with which to collaborate,” said Barrie Yochim, Meals on Wheels executive director. “We’ve seen events like this succeed for nonprofits, while giving participants a memorable and entertaining experience.”

Set in the fictional Wyoming Territory town of Roadkill, the story begins when Judge Waylon Payne invites guests to witness the hanging of the infamous Malevolent Seven, a notorious gang rumored to have terrorized the territory for years. But before justice can be served, murder strikes, and guests must determine who is responsible.

Each evening begins at 6 p.m., and includes a buffet dinner. A cash bar will be available.

With audience participation throughout the entire event, interactive performances by trained actors will help guide audience members to gather clues and solve the mystery.

Participants only need to attend one of the evenings – the event will be held in its entirety each night.

Tickets are available online at https://www.lakeandlanternevents.com/store-B58X8. For additional information, call (716) 499-9125.

Funds raised from the murder mystery event will go to help pay for meal delivery to senior citizens in southern and central Chautauqua County who cannot pay for their meals, or who can pay only a small amount. That helps keep area seniors at home, where they can remain safe, happy and healthy, Yochim said.

Funding will also help alleviate a waiting list for home-delivered meal service in Chautauqua County. Some seniors can’t immediately receive essential meals to remain independently in their homes, due to a lack of funding.

Jamestown Meals on Wheels relies on fund-raising events to get meals into the hands of area senior citizens. Meals on Wheels also receives funding from Chautauqua County Office For Aging Services, as well as other individual contributors. Meals on Wheels is a United Way Community Partner.

Meals on Wheels provides heatable and cold home-delivered meals five days a week in two-thirds of Chautauqua County. The organization can also provide ready-to-heat frozen meals for use on weekends.

UPMC Chautauqua prepares meals for Meals on Wheels recipients in southern Chautauqua County from the hospital’s Jones Memorial Health Center kitchen.

Meals are delivered by a combination of paid drivers and volunteers from the community. Some Meals on Wheels volunteers are from the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.

Meals on Wheels always has volunteer delivery slots available, where volunteers from the community can help deliver essential meals to needy seniors. For more information about Meals on Wheels, call 488-9119.

Starting at $4.00/week.
