Zonta Club Honors Scholarship Recipients

The Zonta Club of Jamestown recently awarded several annual scholarships and awards during the club’s May meeting.
Each recipient received a $1,000 scholarship in support of their educational and professional goals.
Hannah Gullo was awarded the Mary Lou Costanzo Scholarship. A 2018 graduate of Fredonia High School, Gullo earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, summa cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University in 2022. She is currently enrolled in the three-year Nurse Anesthetist Program at Columbia University.
Heather Phillips received the Anne H. Crowe Scholarship. Phillips currently works as a registered nurse and recently completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. She is continuing her education as she pursues certification as a nurse practitioner.
Katrina Schrantz was awarded the Mary Bargar Scholarship. A 2025 graduate of Falconer High School, she recently completed her first year at Cornell University, where she is studying animal science.
Melissa Thies also received an Anne H. Crowe Scholarship. She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in community and human services with a minor in healthcare management. Thies has dedicated 25 years to serving others through her work with Heritage Ministries.
Several scholarship recipients were unable to attend the meeting but were also recognized for their achievements.
Sara Godfrey received the Verna Nelson Scholarship. She recently earned a master’s degree from Columbia University, specializing in International Economic Policy and Middle Eastern Studies. She currently works in New York City as an economist for Oxford Economics.
Onnalee Nellis was honored with the Young Women in Leadership Award. A graduate of Jamestown High School, she is currently attending the University at Buffalo.
Janie Swanson also received the Verna Nelson Scholarship. She is completing her fourth and final year of medical school at SUNY Upstate Medical University and is preparing to begin her medical career.
