TRC To Host Autism Color Run June 18
The Resource Center will host the annual Step Up for Autism on Thursday, June 18, and this year’s event promises to be the most colorful.
Organizers have created a “color run” for this year’s main activity. Participants will have the option of walking or running along a 3-mile route through Celoron. Along the way, they’ll pass stations where they can walk through a mist of powdered paint tossed into the air by volunteers. Folks who prefer to take part in the event without getting covered in paint can opt to bypass the paint stations.
For those who want to be part of the fun but don’t want to do the 3-mile route, there will be a loop that takes participants around the perimeter of The Resource Center’s property at 200 Dunham Avenue.
In addition to the color run, there will be music, food and prize drawings.
People can register ahead of time at https://runsignup.com, or they can register in person the day of the event starting at 5 p.m. The 3-mile run/walk will begin at 6 p.m.
Businesses, school groups and others are encouraged to put together teams of family members, friends and co-workers. Those planning to participate can create a fund-raising web page to collect donations. People can set up their own fund-raising page or create a team page that team members can promote to solicit donations.
Proceeds from the event will be directed to The Resource Center TRC Foundation Fund at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, and will support people on the autism spectrum and others with developmental disabilities.
Sponsors include Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union, Fenton Mobility, Kinetic and Winning Tree.
