Panama announces third quarter students of month

PANAMA – Panama Central School officials recently announced the school’s Students of the Month for the third quarter of the 2025-26 school year. They are:

Mallory Parkhurst, seventh grade and the daughter of Brandon Parkhurst and Ashley Parkhurst of Panama. Her favorite subject in school is ELA. She has demonstrated an impressive commitment to her academic growth, showing steady improvement every quarter. Her teachers describe her as the kind of student who “rises above.” Mallory participates in the musical at PCS, chorus and band. She does not play sports but does do motocross. Outside of school she likes to fish, race, and spread kindness. She also enjoys listening to country music and watching her favorite movie The Boy In The Striped Pajamas.

Jenica Ayres, eighth grade and the daughter of Jason and Jolene Ayres of Ashville. Jenica is recognized by the faculty as an exceptional and dependable student. She is the type of individual who teachers feel comfortable trusting with significant responsibilities. Her favorite subject at PCS is ELA. Jenica is a member of the modified softball team and basketball team. She also participates in the school musical and chorus. Outside of school she enjoys watching Castle and The Rookie and listening to country music. She also enjoys doing nails.

Chloe Hosier, ninth grade and the daughter of Joshua Hosier and Allison Bernik of Panama. She is a powerhouse of involvement and initiative with the school. Chloe is involved with SADD, Student Government, Women in Leadership, and attends Impact. Chloe plays the bass clarinet in band and sings in the chorus. She also participates on the football, wrestling and track teams all while maintaining a high level of academic responsibility. Her favorite subject is Algebra. Outside of school she enjoys weight lifting and shopping. Chloe likes to listen to hip hop music and watch the movie Shrek.

Andrew Apthorpe, 10th grade and the son of Jennifer Douglas of Ashville and Clint Apthorpe of Jamestown. Andrew serves as a stellar role model for his peers, characterized by his opposite attitude and team-first mentality. His favorite subject is science. Andrew participates in NHS, Student Government and the school musical as well as being a member of the chorus and band. He plays tennis and basketball for PCS. Outside of school he enjoys coin collecting and listening to Nirvana. He also enjoys Star Wars.

Ava Lawson

Abbigail Trusler, 11th grade and the daughter of Robin Hamilton of Ashville and Jeff Trusler of Falconer. Her favorite subject in school is Art where she also helps out designing the yearbook. She is highly regarded by her teachers as a standout member of the junior class, particularly noted for her involvement as a dedicated member of the Enviorothon team. She also participates in Women in Leadership. Abbi is a member of the volleyball and track teams. She enjoys photography, going to the beach and attending sporting events. Abbi likes to listen to 2016 pop music and watch Grey’s Anatomy and Criminal Minds.

Ava Lason, 12th grade and the daughter of Tomas and Laci Lawson of Ashville. Ava is celebrated for her incredible work ethic and her unwavering kindness. She is described by her teachers as “sweetness, 100%!” Her favorite subject in school is English. She also very much enjoys being a part of chorus and participating in the school musicals. Ava is a member of SADD and Women in Leadership. Outside of school she likes to read, listen to music and play with her cats and dogs. Taylor Swift is her favorite music artist and she also enjoys watching Gilmore Girls.
