City church prepares MHA luncheon

Lunch at the most recent Mental Health Association of Chautauqua County recovery luncheon was provided by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Jamestown.
The lunch was prepared and served by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Jamestown: Connie and Doug Foster, Jean Rolls, Gail Smith, Betsy Trusel and Barb Visker. Doug Foster offered the blessing before the meal was served.
After welcoming everyone to the May recovery luncheon, MHA Executive Director Michael Nordin presented certificates to recognize recent accomplishments. Three volunteers and an employee received certificates for achieving milestones in their sobriety. Others were singled out for becoming employed, receiving a promotion at their work, and completing drug court.
The MHA has welcomed a new bilingual staff member to work with Spanish-speaking participants. Sarina Rivera is full-time in the Jamestown recovery center.
Everyone is welcome to MHA recovery luncheons on the third Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. Like all MHA services, the luncheons are free.
The Mental Health Association in Chautauqua County is a peer recovery center offering support groups and individual coaching for people looking to improve their lives, deepen wellness, thrive in recovery, or support those on a recovery path. Peers use their personal stories to help people find recovery in their own lives in their own way.
The Jamestown recovery center is at Door 14 in the rear of the Gateway Center, 31 Water Street. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 9:30 a.m to 4:30 p.m. Mondays and Fridays.
The North County recovery center at Grace Lutheran Church, 601 Eagle St., Dunkirk, is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and now Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
