Bemus Point School Board To Meet Monday
BEMUS POINT – The Bemus Point Board of Education will hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, June 15, in the cafeteria at Maple Grove High School, 3980 Dutch Hollow Road, Bemus Point. An executive session is expected after the regular meeting. The public is welcome.
Fenton History Center To Host Allen Park Walking Tour Saturday
The Fenton History Center will host its next walking tour at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 13, in Allen Park. The tour will start at the Allen Park Bandshell, located at the corner of West Virginia Boulevard and Elizabeth Avenue. The tour will cover a summary of the Allen Family, the WPA projects in the park, information and history about the Allen Park Women’s Club by club member Carrie Wolfgang, followed by local historian Gregory Peterson talking about the ice skating and baseball history of the park. The tour will conclude at the wading pool. The tour is led by Fenton Trustee Janet Wahlberg. The cost is $8 for members and $12 for non-members. Participants can pre-register online, in person at the Fenton, or by phone at 716-664-6256. There is a limit of 20 people for each tour. Sponsors are Rodgers Land Surveying, Ahlstrom Schaeffer and Weber Knapp. New this year is the Full Circuit History Pass, which provides individual access to all Fenton Historic Walking Tours throughout the 2026 season. Each pass is valid for one person. The cost is $50 for members (regularly $56) and $80 (regularly $84) for non-members. The tours throughout the summer are of Allen Park, Jamestown’s Hidden Alleys, Jamestown’s Industrial Past, a military tour of Lake View Cemetery, Lucy’s Downtown, Churches tour, and the Ladies of Lake View Cemetery. Panama School Board To Meet Monday
PANAMA – The Panama Central School Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, June 15, in the board room. The public is welcome to attend.
Sons Of American Revolution To Meet Saturday
STOCKTON – The Chautauqua Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will meet Saturday, June 13, at the Stockton Hotel at 12:30 p.m. The group hopes to have updates on the Patriot Marker program and the History Expo coming up this summer. The Sons of the American Revolution is a lineage society for those who can trace their ancestry to the patriots who fought for freedom or otherwise supported the fight for liberty. Those interested in becoming a member, or have an interest in American history, are invited to join.
Marvin House To Host Luncheon June 18
The Marvin House will host its next luncheon at noon Thursday, June 18, featuring Ashley Senske, who will present the story behind the movie “Forever Darling” and Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz’s 1956 homecoming to Jamestown. Guests will learn about the two-day celebration that drew 25,000 people, complete with parades, movie screenings and community-wide excitement as Hollywood came to town. Senske will share the behind-the-scenes details about the film, the couple’s connection to Jamestown, and why the premiere remains one of the city’s most cherished moments 70 years later. Luncheon served will be Turkey sandwich on ciabatta roll with Havarti cheese and tomato pesto and basil mayonnaise, Italian style pasta salad, Fruit salad, Chocolate trifle/mousse, Coffee or tea. Sinclairville Library To Host Life Story Writing Program Starting June 18
SINCLAIRVILLE – This summer, writers can begin writing about their life and the lives of ancestors by joining in the Sinclairville Free Library’s Life Story Writing program on the following Thursdays at 6 p.m.: June 18, July 16 and August 20. The program is available both in person and online. Send an email to director@sinclairvillelibrary.org to receive the Zoom link to join online. The program is for ages 14 and up, and will include some genealogy as well as writing practice. Most importantly, the group will share stories and build a community for those interested in preserving life stories in writing.
