The Stanley A. Weeks Braw Caddie Clan Award for Excellence selection committee has awarded Lucas Arnone, son of Nate and Laura Arnone, as the group’s 2026 scholarship recipient.
The award ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 18, at Moon Brook Country Club. All family members, coaches, teachers, friends, and Stanley A. Weeks Braw Caddie Clan brothers are invited. Attendees are requested to arrive by 5 p.m. for a social gathering, with the award ceremony commencing at 5:30 p.m.
The scholarship recognizes students for academic achievement, well-rounded excellence, hard work and leadership. The committee reviewed seven qualified candidates. Arnone was selected for his academic performance, active participation in learning groups, essay, and volunteer work. He graduated near the top of his class, was inducted into the National Honor Society, earned the JCC Dean’s List, and received the St. Bonaventure Scholarship. Arnone participated in soccer, cross-country, track and hockey, serving as captain in each sport. He plans to attend Northern Arizona University to major in business. His part-time role at Target as a general merchandise expert and team trainer further demonstrates his leadership and decision-making skills.
One JHS teacher wrote: “From his amazing work ethic to his super-friendly personality, he is an ideal student who happily works within cooperative learning groups.” Another teacher added, “Lucas is a talented academic who is joyful and adds a wonderful sense of humor and honesty in class as he shares how subject matter connects to his life.”
In his essay, Lucas reflects on his experiences as a student-athlete, connecting life lessons to personal growth and teamwork. He emphasizes that leadership is not about recognition, but about setting an example through hard work, perseverance, adaptability, communication, and collaboration. Leaders challenge themselves and inspire their teammates to do the same.
Weeks founded the Braw Caddie Clan in 1930. He referred to clan members as “all my sons”; his kinship sparked the legacy. Despite JHS fraternities being banned over 50 years ago and brothers moving across the nation, Weeks and local brothers reunited the Clan through correspondence and reunions. The tradition lives on as Honorary Brothers (past awardees) participate in the selection process and contribute to the fund. The scholarship is made possible through collaborations with the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, Jamestown High School and the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame.
