Audubon Dragons and Fairies Fest is June 13
On Saturday, June 13, the Audubon Community Nature Center will host its Dragons and Fairies Festival. In addition to a drum circle, the festival includes story telling, puppet shows, artisans at work, horse-drawn carriage rides, live music and food.
The Audubon Community Nature Center will host its annual Dragons and Fairies Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 13.
Visitors can try their hand at kid-safe archery, join a drum circle, listen to the Fairy Queen’s stories, watch a puppet show, play games, go on scavenger hunts, and get their pictures taken at the Fairy Garden Photo Booth. Adults and children alike are encouraged to wear their favorite costumes. Kids receive a treasure bag at the info booth that they will use to collect treasures throughout the festival.
The schedule for the day is:
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – vendors, crafts, food trucks, scavenger hunts, Nature Center building exhibits, Ogre dice rolling game, mushroom ring toss, obstacle course, kids archery and Fairy Garden photo booth
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – face painting
10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. – live music by Water Horse
10:30 and 11:30 a.m., 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. – story time with the Fairy Queen
11 a.m.; 12, 1 and 2 p.m. – Three Heron’s Nest presents Aksot and Friends’ Puppet Show
11 a.m. to 3 p.m. – horse-drawn carriage rides, with reservations recommended)
11 a.m. to 3 p.m. – drum circle.
There will be demonstrations of glassblowing, weaving and spinning, and leatherworking and bookmark making. Visit AudubonCNC.org/dragons-and-fairies for details and to reserve a time for a Magic Moments horse-drawn carriage ride. Rides are scheduled every 15 minutes from 11 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. They may be available for walk-ins, but are not guaranteed.
Food trucks include 3 Cs Catering and Gelati’s Italian Ice. Vendors are Geo’s Traveling Gem Mine and Kristie Dunham Jewelry.
Parking is free. Admission is $12 for adults, $9 for Nature Center members and children ages 3-15, and free for children ages 2 and under. Some things cost extra. Cash is helpful, as there is no ATM onsite and limited credit card readers are available.
