Two injured in Jamestown fire
JAMESTOWN — Two people were injured as Jamestown Fire Department crews contained a blaze to the second floor of a city building Tuesday.
According to officials, firefighters were dispatched to 40 W. Eighth St. for a reported structure fire at 7:51 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters saw smoke and flames venting from the second floor in the rear of the building. Crews used a hand line and made entry through the front door. Firefighters then used a nearby hydrant to contain the fire to the second floor. Officials said the fire was knocked down in about 20 minutes on the scene.
Crews conducted an overhaul, checked for fire extension, and smoke was ventilated from the building. An investigation revealed that the fire was caused by an overheated electrical device, and the fire was ruled accidental.
Officials said two adult occupants sustained smoke inhalation. One was treated at the scene and the other was transported to UPMC. Crews returned to the station at about 12:09 p.m.
