Samuel Derby Legion Auxiliary Post Meets

The Samuel L. Derby American Legion Auxiliary Unit 556 met recently with 20 members attending.

Membership is at more than 230 people with 10 new memberships. The sign-up board will soon be available for the Poppy Days to be held at the Frewsburg Tops and Kwik Fill on May 14-16.

The veteran bracelets continue to sell well. The 250th anniversary bracelets are now on sale at the legion. President Verna Hoover thanked everyone who helped with the lottery and basket giveaways. The auxiliary had a record number of baskets. It was agreed to do a raffle for the 250th anniversary of the country. It will be a collapsible wagon filled with patriotic/picnic items. The floor was opened for nominations for officers. Gwen Funcell was nominated for treasurer, but there were no nominations to replace the secretary. No other nominations were received. The final vote will be held at the May meeting.

The Samuel L. Derby American Legion Auxiliary Unit 556 meets every third Tuesday of the month, and all members are encouraged to attend. The next meeting will be held on May 19.
