The town of Gerry has purchased some property that borders the town hall.

The Post-Journal and OBSERVER have been analyzing real estate sales in Chautauqua County and recently looked at the transactions from March 16-20. The county does not provide transaction information, but real estate documents are available for review at the clerk’s office.

During this time period, Free Methodist Church of Gerry sold a parcel on Gerry Sinclairville Road, Gerry to the town of Gerry for $12,000.

According to Gerry Supervisor Richard Heah, the church technically owned most of the town hall’s parking lot. Since the building is for sale, they wanted to purchase the property.

From March 16-20, there were seven transactions that were $300,000 or higher. The remaining top sales are as follows:

– 6 Ames Ave., Chautauqua Institution sold for $460,000.

– Unit 8448, the Highlands II-A Condominium, Lot 54, French Creek sold for $421,500.

– 6443 Galloway Road, Chautauqua town sold for $412,000.

– 8237 Canterbury Drive, French Creek sold for $395,000.

– 6181 Breeze Lane, Chautauqua town sold for $385,000.

– 2737 Bentley Ave., Ellicott sold for $300,000.
