The National Defender was read by Linda Kuzara about “Sargent Reckless” a decorated mare (female horse) in the Korean War. She carried ammunition and wounded soldiers up and down the mountain. She was wounded twice and received two Purple Hearts. There is a bronze statue in her honor at the National Museum of the Marines in Quantico, Va..

Secretary Linda Kuzara presented the minutes from the April 2026 meeting. Cheryl Smith, the new treasurer, was inducted. Barbara Pietro gave the Registrar Report, with several applications in the works and one sent to Washington for approval.
