Annual Action Plan Submission On Council Agenda
The Department of Development is looking to submit their Annual Action Plan to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, and council approval for this submission is up for discussion during tonight’s work session.
The Annual Action Plan is set to be submitted contingent to any public comments on June 1. Each year the Jamestown Urban Renewal Agency is required to submit the Annual Action Plan to HUD. The plan must be compliant with the Five Year Consolidated Plan, which was last submitted by JURA in 2025. Public engagement and any public comments are all taken into account when preparing the annual submission each year. The official submitted document demonstrates the DOD’s structured and detailed strategy for projects for the fiscal year, along with programs under the Community Development Block Grant and HOME allocations that the city has received.
For the 2026 program year JURA has been granted $1,113,722 in CDBG funds and $279,108.19 in HOME funds. The DOD’s Annual Action Plan includes projects focusing on proposed housing, neighborhood, community, and economic development activities. The public comment period for the Annual Action Plan is ongoing now, ending June 1.
Besides the Annual Action Plan submission, the only other items on the agenda for tonight’s city council work session is a Special Event approval for Gold Star Memorial on May 23, and the Board of Public Utilities is scheduled to present at the work session, giving an update on the new broadband fiber network roll out.
The council’s work session begins at 7:30 p.m. in the police training room on the fourth floor of city hall. Council committees meet before the work session. The Housing Committee meets at 6:30 p.m. in the police training room with the Finance Committee at 7 p.m. in the mayor’s fourth floor conference room, the Public Safety Committee in the police training room at 7 p.m. and the Public Works Committee in the Development Department conference room at 7 p.m.
