4‑H youth take part in fashion revue

4-H youth participated in the annual Fashion Revue demonstrating their sewing and modeling abilities.

The annual 4-H Fashion Revue was held at Jamestown Community College recently hosted by the 4-H Clothing and Consumer Science committee.

Forty 4-H members participated and were evaluated on their sewing as well as their modeling abilities.

Commentators for the evening were Everett LeBarron and Gavin LeBarron from the Canadaway 4-H Club, Grace Reid, Gianna Valone and Serenity VanVleck from the Country Critters 4-H Club, and Claudia Almekinder from the Harmony Haystackers 4-H Club.

Cloverbuds receiving special awards were Cora Bell, Harper Feldt, Cora Anne Joy, Autumn Kanner, Emma Klar, Raven Lindsey, and Masen Manning.

First-year 4-H sewers were Liam Bell, Paul Heyl, Jackson VanVleck, Kristen Heath and Logan Woods.

The Martha Carlson Memorial Award, sponsored by Ethan and Nancy Johnson, is given to any male sewer who has participated in the sewing project for more than three years and has shown continual improvement in their sewing skills. This year Everett LeBarron and Drake Joy from the Canadaway 4-H Club along with Rowen Liskow from the Country Critters 4-H Club received the award.

Outstanding sewing awards were also given out. Canadaway 4-H club had Liam Bell, Paul Heyl, Drake Joy, Myra Rose Joy, Brant Joy, Everett LeBarron, Harrison LeBarron, Gavin LeBarron, Malcom Long, and River Long. Country Critters 4-H Club had Lukas Liskow, Rowen Liskow, Addie Meyers, Isaiah Nagel, Grace Reid, and Olivia Reid, Gianna Valone, Jackson VanVleck, Serenity VanVleck, and Violet Walker. The Harmony Haystackers Club had Claudia Almekinder, Raelynn Ellsworth, Owen Lindsey, and Remi Lindsey. Sherman Kountry Kids had Kristen Heath. Silver Creek Grapestompers outstanding sewers were Adaline Blasdell, Aiden Blasdell, Kiah Dean, Jackson Hudson, Jameson Hudson, and Logan Woods.

The Regional District Fashion Revue will be hosted this year by the Cattaraugus County 4-H on Saturday, June 6. The following 4-H’ers have been chosen to attend that event: Claudia Almekinder, Kiah Dean, Kristen Heath, Brant Joy, Drake Joy, Myra Rose Joy, Everett LeBarron, Gavin LeBarron, Harrison LeBarron, Owen Lindsey, Rowan Liskow, Malcom Long, Addie Meyers, Isaiah Nagel, Grace Reid, Gianna Valone, and Serenity VanVleck.

Chosen for the state fair were Claudia Almekinder, Kiah Dean, and Everett LeBarron.

Sewing leaders who worked with the youth were Rebecca Joy, Laura LeBarron, Kaitlyn Long, and Patty Matteson with the Canadaway 4-H Club. Nancy Johnson with the Country Critters 4-H Club. Katrina Jones with the Frewsburg Hayseeds 4-H Club. Harmony Haystackers 4-H Club had Dawn Comstock and Marge Lindsey. Jennifer Eschenbach with the Sherman Kountry Kids 4-H Club and Marie Manning with the Silver Creek Grape Stompers 4-H Club.

Arrangements were made by the Chautauqua County 4-H Clothing and Textile Committee, which includes Debbie Caruso, Dawn Comstock, Joyce Edwards (Chair), Suzanne Harper, Nancy Johnson, Rebecca Joy, Sue Overend, and Linda TeCroney.

Judges for the evening were Joyce Edwards and Linda TeCroney. Starting the Fashion Revue with an opening introduction was Debbie Caruso, who was the master of ceremonies for the evening.
