Zonta Club Hosts Speaker Sarah Tranum

The Zonta Club of Jamestown welcomed speaker Sarah Tranum as the presenter for its recent program meeting.
Tranum, an associate professor of social innovation design at Ontario College of Art and Design University, shared insights from her career focused on using design as a tool for positive social change. Originally from Sinclairville, she is a graduate of Cassadaga High School and Cornell University.
During her presentation, Tranum highlighted her work developing innovative academic programs, including “Design Abroad,” which connects students with global communities to collaboratively address real-world challenges. Through these initiatives, she has led student groups to countries such as India, Zimbabwe, Canada, Costa Rica, and Nepal working alongside women to create sustainable, community-driven solutions.
In addition to her academic role, Tranum is the founder of TrickleUpDesign, a business dedicated to leveraging design and strategy to create meaningful social impact both locally and globally.
Tranum also spoke about her podcast, Designing a Humane Future, which explores how individuals and communities can help shape a more equitable and intentional world. The podcast covers a wide range of topics including healthcare, housing, food systems, and leadership, with a focus on fostering inclusive and humane solutions.
