JCLC Celebrating National Home Visiting Week April 20-24

Jamestown Community Learning Council staff celebrate the success of their recent Family Science Night at the YMCA.

The Jamestown Community Learning Council will celebrate National Home Visiting Week from April 20-24.

The council has provided home visits to families in Jamestown for the past 35 years and more recently, throughout all of Chautauqua County. While JCLC’s work is rooted in the local community, it is part of a much larger nationwide effort. Home visiting programs are available in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, with more than 284,000 families participating in 2025, highlighting the importance and reach of these services.

Using the Parents as Teachers and Healthy Families New York models, JCLC home visitors guide families by helping them understand their child’s development, navigate challenges and celebrate growth. Parents also receive direction on where to turn when they have questions or concerns and are appreciative of the help and guidance they receive from their home visitor when navigating challenges.

JCLC home visitors meet with their families to help them gain confidence, increase resiliency and feel more connected with their local school and community. Several past families have re-connected with their home visitor to provide an update on how they are doing and share how they have continued to use their skills to maneuver life’s obstacles. Some families also reach out to re-enroll if they have another child.

Starting at $3.50/week.
