FREDONIA – Sylvester Cleary, Chautauqua County School Boards Association president, has been recognized for his community leadership and appointed to a key regional position on the New York State School Boards Association board.

Cleary recently accepted the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation Award on behalf of the foundation during a recent presentation at the State University at Fredonia during the university’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. week of events.

In addition to the local recognition, Cleary has been appointed as the NYSSBA Area 3 Director.

“It is an honor to serve our students and educators on both a local and state level,” Cleary said. “Whether accepting the award on behalf of the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation or advocating for district needs in Albany, the goal remains the same: ensuring every child in our region has the resources and support they need to succeed.”

In addition to his roles with the CCSBA and NYSSBA, he continues to serve as a member of the Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES board.

Starting at $3.50/week.
