Republicans endorse Hernandez for state comptroller

The New York Republican State Committee unanimously nominated Joseph Hernandez as its candidate for State Comptroller at the Republican State Convention held in Garden City. As the party’s official nominee, Hernandez will appear on the Republican Party ballot line in this November’s elections.

In advance of the state convention, Hernandez has traveled the state meeting with party leaders and earned the support of county party chairs and committees.

“I am deeply humbled and honored to accept the Republican nomination for New York State Comptroller,” said Hernandez. “This campaign is about restoring the Comptroller’s office to its core mission: protecting taxpayers, auditing waste and fraud, and serving as an independent watchdog.”

In his acceptance, Hernandez thanked Republican State Chairman Ed Cox, along with convention host Nassau County Republican Chairman Joseph Cairo and the rest of the Republican State Committee and outlined his plan to restore fiscal accountability to state government, protect taxpayers and invest in New York’s future.

Hernandez will be challenging incumbent Thomas DiNapoli.

The convention highlights a unified Republican ticket heading into November’s midterm elections, including Nassau County Executive and Republican gubernatorial nominee Bruce Blakeman.

“Bruce Blakeman has delivered results, protected taxpayers, and stood up to one-party rule here in New York, showing what Republican leadership looks like,” Hernandez said. “Together, we will restore accountability to Albany and put New Yorkers back in charge of their government.”

“This election is about competence versus complacency,” Hernandez stated. “New York deserves a Comptroller who will challenge Albany when it overspends, expose waste when it occurs, and protect every taxpayer dollar. I am ready to do that job, alongside our united Republican ticket.”
