UPMC Chautauqua Recognized For Maternity Care
UPMC Chautauqua has been recognized as a Maternity Care Access Hospital for by U.S. News & World Report.
The designation honors hospitals that provide access to quality care for expectant parents, serving communities that would otherwise be considered maternity care deserts.
“We are very proud to be recognized for the high-quality care we are committed to provide to the families in our communities.” said Tracy Gates, president of UPMC Chautauqua. “This recognition reflects the expertise of our team members who provide an excellent birthing experience for our patients and a strong commitment to our region’s expectant parents and their babies.”
U.S. News & World Report analyzed hospitals nationwide based on objective measures of quality, such as C-section rates in lower-risk pregnancies, severe unexpected newborn complication rates, exclusive breast milk feeding rates, and birthing-friendly practices, among other measures. After 900 hospitals nationwide were evaluated for the 2026 ratings, just 147 hospitals – or 16% of all evaluated hospitals – have been designated as Maternity Care Access Hospitals
UPMC Chautauqua joins UPMC Altoona, UPMC Carlisle, UPMC Northwest, UPMC Horizon, UPMC Northwest and UPMC Western Maryland in the recognition.
Across the hospitals with obstetric services, UPMC delivers close to 25,000 babies each year.
