South Dayton plans Christmas in the Village
SOUTH DAYTON — Christmas in the Village will take place Saturday, Dec. 13.
The South Dayton American Legion Post 1593 Auxiliary is preparing for its first Scavenger Hunt starting at 10 a.m. at the Depot. Pick up a Scavenger Hunt ticket, have fun, return your ticket to the American Legion, Mill Street.
Prizes will be awarded for child, teen and adult. This is a family-fun adventure.
A Legion Craft Show will be from 10 am to 3 p.m. with the Chicken & Biscuit lunch at 11 a.m. until gone. Also, there will be a basket raffle.
Santa Claus comes to the village on the South Dayton Volunteer Fire Department truck, arriving at the Depot at 11 a.m. and will be there until 2 p.m. He will have his bag of goodies.
Other events, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. :
— J & L’s Discount Sales will provide craft making and hot chocolate;
— Crossroads Christian Community Center will serve snacks, show a movie, and have fun.
— South Dayton Super Market selects snack samples from the deli;
— Zollinger’s Restaurant will host wine tasting.
— Coster Chiropractic will have snacks and a coloring page handout.
— At the Piano Studio, participate in activities and music.
The Village Library is bustling with Christmas ready for the children to do crafts, enjoy treats, and participate in the raffle basket. Also setup in the Library for Austin Milling, the Cattaraugus County Dairy Ambassador Program will serve dairy punch, have handouts, and farm coloring pages.
Friends of the Depot will have a table in the Library selling Christmas gift wrapped Depot T-shirts, ready to put under the tree, designed by Karen Meyers along with decoupaged plaques of the Depot designed by Karen Senn.
The plaques are donated by Cherry Creek Woodcraft. The shirts and plaques are a fundraiser for the South Dayton Depot. Walk around downtown and, if you wish, bring a homemade ornament you may hang on the Christmas tree in the gazebo.
