United Way To Hold Third Annual Curling Event At Northwest Arena

Registration is now open for United Way of Chautauqua County’s third annual Curling Night at Northwest Arena.

Sign up as an individual or team of six to support the United Way’s 2025 Fundraising Campaign while also taking part in a friendly curling competition.

“This event is one of our favorite nights of the year,” said Amy Rohler, United Way of Chautauqua County executive director. “We love how this annual Curling event brings out our community partner agencies as well as local businesses. It’s a great opportunity for team-building and family fun.”

The United Way’s third annual Curling Night is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at the Northwest Arena in downtown Jamestown. The deadline to register as an individual or team is Monday, Nov. 10. A Happy Hour with food and a cash bar will precede the competition, which begins at 6:30 p.m. following a “Learn To Curl” demonstration and explanation of rules.

The casual tournament is open to players of all skill levels from experienced curlers to complete beginners eager to learn the sport.

“The popularity of Backyard Curling at Northwest Arena keeps growing, and this event is designed to be fun and accessible for everyone,” said Rex McCray, who launched the United Way’s curling event in 2023. “We make sure teams are structured so that first-time players and experienced curlers alike can have a great experience — it’s really all about having fun and building community.”

Northwest Arena’s “Backyard Curling” takes place on the ice, though no special equipment or skates are required. Participants are required to wear sneakers or gym shoes and are encouraged to dress appropriately for a colder environment.

To register as an individual or team, text UWCURLING to 41444, call 716-483-1566, or contact Nick Dean by emailing ndean@unitedwaychq.org. Tickets are $25 for individual participants and $125 per team (up to six players).
