Jamestown To Begin Leaf Collection Monday

Pictured is a map depicting Jamestown’s leaf collection schedule.

Phase 1 of Jamestown’s annual leaf collection program will begin on Monday, Nov. 3.

Residents are asked to rake leaves to the terrace area behind the curb and avoid placing leaves in the street, as doing so can obstruct drainage and create safety concerns. Leaves should be free of trash, plastic bags, containers, and other debris, and basketball hoops or other obstructions must be removed from the city right-of-way to allow crews to safely and efficiently collect leaves.

Phase 1 of collection will start in the Foote Avenue, Martin Road, and Linwood Avenue area, progressing east and north in a counterclockwise direction toward the east side of Washington Street and the Fluvanna Avenue area.

Phase 2 will begin in the Foote Avenue and Ivy Street area and move west and north, clockwise, toward Washington Street. Phase 2 is expected to begin on or around Nov. 10, weather permitting.

Residents are reminded that yard waste, brush, hedge trimmings, garden debris, and tree branches will not be collected as part of the leaf pickup program. These materials, along with leaves, may be brought to the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities Yard Waste Site, 1001 Monroe St., during regular operating hours Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Nov. 8.

For more information about the leaf collection schedule call the Department of Public Works at 716-483-7545 or email dpw@jamestownny.gov.

Starting at $3.50/week.
