Nelson Announces Re-Election Bid
County Legislator Tom Nelson is seeking a third term on the Chautauqua County Legislature. Nelson has served on the legislature representing district 13 since 2023.
Nelson served on the Jamestown City Council from 20215-2020 as the Ward Six representative. During that time, he served on the Public Works Committee, the Jamestown Local Development Corporation, and as the liaison to the Planning Commission. From 2022-2024 he served on the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities.
Currently, he serves on the Audit and Control Committee, the Public Facilities Committee, the Jamestown Planning Commission, and the Cornell Cooperative Extension Board of Directors.
Nelson has lived in Jamestown for the past 35 years. He is a graduate of SUNY Fredonia and St. Bonaventure University. He taught US History and Participation In Government at Frewsburg before retiring in 2024. He has been married to Dee for 35 years and has four adult children. He is an active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, where he serves on the Vestry.
