Enchanted Forest Adds Live Music, Still Accepting Reservations

While they’re pictured here on Chautauqua Lake, Catch Phrase will perform today at the Audubon Community Nature Center, and Gavin Paterniti will perform Saturday.

Live music has been added to Audubon Community Nature Center’s Enchanted Forest, while reservations for the event are still being accepted.

Today and Saturday is Audubon’s annual event when firefly guides take visitors down the luminary-lit Enchanted Trail to meet human-sized animals that captivate their audience with stories of their lives.

“We still have some openings,” said Katie Finch, Audubon visitor experience director, “so it’s not too late to call or make reservations on our website. And we’re happy to find spots for walk-ins if spaces are available.”

Finch said this year’s experience is being enhanced with the recent addition of live music at the backyard campfire.

Friday evening Catch Phrase, the multi-instrumental duo that features Gavin Paterniti and Sara Rafaloski, will entertain. The pair are both longtime members of the greater Chautauqua music scene. When performing together, they offer a wide selection of both original songs and covers ranging from old-time to contemporary.

A lifelong Chautauqua County resident, Paterniti has been playing music for audiences throughout the area for the past 25 years. Going solo Saturday evening, he will perform classic and contemporary covers, as well as some of his original songs.

After the walk, stop in the backyard for music and a campfire. Snacks and drinks will be available to purchase. Inside the Nature Center building there will be crafts, live animals, and exhibits to explore, including the new interactive bee display.

Halloween costumes are welcome, and remember to dress for the weather. For protection from biting insects like mosquitoes, long pants, long-sleeved shirts, closed-toe shoes, and insect repellent are recommended.

Starting at 6 p.m., guided walks go out every 10 minutes and last about 40 minutes. The last walk starts at 8 p.m. (Sunset is 6:45 p.m.)

The fee is $14 for adults, $10.50 for Nature Center members and children ages 3-15, and free for children 2 and under.

Reservations can be made by calling 716-569-2345 or clicking through AudubonCNC.org/events.

Starting at $3.50/week.
