City Kiwanis Club Celebrates 105th Anniversary

The Jamestown Kiwanis Club celebrated its 105th Anniversary with a dinner at the Landmark attended by more than 40 Kiwanians and guests.
Fred Larson, a Jamestown Kiwanis Club past president and master of ceremonies, described the history of the Jamestown Kiwanis Club and its service to youth. Larson pointed to decades of Kiwanis support for youth baseball and soccer, youth programs at the Audubon, the Salvation Army and Jamestown Boys and Girls Club, the JHS Madrigal singers and much more.
The Jamestown Kiwanis Club has sponsored a JHS Key Club going back at least to the 1960s.
Past President Chuck Nazzaro spoke of the impact of Kiwanis on his whole family. He pointed out that his children and now a grandchild learned about community service by working side by side with him on Kiwanis projects including Salvation Army bell ringing and the Kiwanis Club’s “Breakfast with Santa” each December at the Salvation Army.
The Silver Creek, Westfield/Ripley and Falconer Kiwanis Clubs all sent representatives to join in the celebration of Jamestown ‘s 105th anniversary.
Five Jamestown Kiwanis alumni also attended to join in the anniversary celebration.
Jamestown Kiwanis could not celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Past presidents Larson, Nazzaro and Teresi organized the 105th anniversary celebration to finally celebrate a century of service to the Jamestown community by the Jamestown Kiwanis Club.
