The Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue’s Dog of the Week, Buckaroo, is a recent arrival at the shelter. Buckaroo is a 7-year-old neutered male border collie mix who is house trained and crate trained, knows several basic commands, responds to his name when called, and is working on improving his on-leash manners. He enjoys riding in the car with the windows down. He has lived with cats and is very cat-friendly. He also gets along with other dogs, but true to his breed, he will sometimes try to herd them. He is a little nervous during thunderstorms, but is able to cope pretty well. He enjoys hiking and camping and needs a significant amount of daily exercise and activity to keep him happy. He’s a working dog by heritage, and he isn’t cut out for the couch potato life.
