Sascha Is NCCR Dog Of Week

Sascha

Sascha was surrendered to Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue when her owners moved away and couldn’t take her with them. She came along with the added surprise of being very pregnant, and within a couple of weeks, she gave birth to a litter of eight puppies. Now that her pups have all found homes of their own, she has been working on herself with the help of her foster mom and is ready to find a forever home of her own. She is a 5- or 6-year-old female mixed breed, with her heritage including primarily husky and a mix of bull dog types and others.Sascha loves people, but sometimes takes a bit to warm up to strangers, men in particular. Some sweet talk and treats usually bring her out of her shell pretty quickly. Sascha is house trained, walks on a leash, and knows some basic commands. She gets along well with some other dogs, but can be selective depending on the personality of the other dog, and she needs a cat-free home. Sometimes her attitude comes out toward other dogs when she’s walking on a leash, but a trainer is helping her improve her manners. Read more about her and other adoptable dogs at www.caninerescue.org, and apply to adopt online. Visit the the shelter and meet the other available dogs in person Monday through Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. An appointment is required to meet Sascha herself as she is in an off-site foster home.
