“Native Culinary Herbs” Featured At Audubon First Friday

Sarah Sorci, an herbal educator, writer, and therapeutic gardening facilitator, is coming to Audubon Community Nature Center’s First Friday on Oct. 3. She will spotlight native plants that enhance gardens and cooking.
“Native Culinary Herbs for the Home Garden” is the topic at Audubon Community Nature Center’s First Friday presentation at 11 a.m. Oct. 3.
Native plants are gaining popularity with gardeners for their beauty, support of wildlife, and adaptation to the local environment. However, native species are often absent from herb gardens and nursery herb departments.
Sarah Sorci will lead the discussion. Sorci will spotlight native plants that enhance gardens and cooking: rose mallow, nodding onion, pepperweed, and more. Those attending will learn about their preferred growing conditions, where to purchase plants and seeds, and how to use the plants in the kitchen.
Sorci is an herbal educator, writer, and therapeutic gardening facilitator based in Gerry. A 2014 graduate of the Blue Ridge School of Herbal Medicine, she earned a certificate in Horticultural Therapy from the Horticultural Therapy Institute/Colorado State.
