LAKEWOOD – The Women’s Club of Lakewood recently held its annual spring banquet and announced the club’s 2025 scholarship winners, Kaitlyn Galati and Simeon Lewis.
Kaitlyn will be attending Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., in the fall. She plans to major in art education and become “a leader who fosters self-expression, community-building, and emotional resilience in the classroom.” During her time at Southwestern High School she was a member of National Honor Society, served as co-president of the Choir, vice president of the Art Club, and was the first ever freshman member of the Choraliers. Within the community, Kaitlyn has helped with children’s ministry programs, Kicking for a Cure, Wreaths Across America, and Blue Star Mothers Soldier Packing Event. She also ran the SWCS Volleyball Kids Camp.
Simeon will be attending Cedarville University in the fall. He plans to pursue a career in cybersecurity working with the Department of Defense. He wants to use his “knowledge of technology and security to protect important data and systems from cyber threats.” During his time at Southwestern High School Simeon worked during the summers at the SWCS Tech Department. He was class president, a member of Student Council, volunteered at the Southwestern High School Library Tech Help Desk, was inducted into the National Honor Society, and was a member of SADD. Within the community he has volunteered at the Firecracker Run, Salvation Army bell ringing campaign and a can drive to raise money for the St. Susan Center. He also organized a group of students to help Superintendent Maureen Donahue complete data entry of all Southwestern Alumni who graduated between 1950 and 2000.
