Harmony Senior Citizens To Meet
PANAMA – The Harmony Senior Citizens will meet at noon Oct. 2 at the Panama Methodist Church for a tureen luncheon.
Members are asked to bring a dish to pass and their own table service. Hosts for the meal include Betty Johnson, Toni Campbell, Marty LaFredo and Richard Harper. Area seniors are welcome and encouraged to attend.
President June Whipple welcomed 33 members and two guests to the group’s last meeting. Chaplain Marty LaFredo read a poem “Jesus hears You”, led the Lord’s prayer and the salute to the flag. Mary Sweeney and Bonnie Froman were the hosts for the luncheon.
Sally Hagg installed the officers for the coming year of 2025-2026: June Whipple, president; Wendie Raynor, secretary and Mary Lou Garfield, treasurer. Other members installed were: Mary Sweeney and Bonnie Froman, co-chaplains; Dottie Enlow, trip chairperson, Cindy McIntyre, cheer person; Ellen Coffaro, Senior Council representative; Betty Johnson, Toni Campbell and Richard Harper, Program Committee; Cindy McIntyre, table chairperson. Laurie Russell, volunteered to take the vice president position. This was approved by the members and she was installed.
Wendie Raynor read the minutes of the September meeting and Mary Lou Garfield gave the treasurer’s report. Garfield said she is waiting for a current bank statement to give to Sally Hagg and Mary Keeney to do the audit of the books for this past year.
June Whipple read the list of members celebrating birthdays in September which included Bob Dellahoy, Carol Hetrick, Cindy Miller, Carol Parnell and LaVerne Terrill. Members sang Happy Birthday.
Lois King thanked Dottie Enlow for the work she did to arrange the Oak Ridge Boys concert trip.
Toni Campbell stated that Diane Guzman from Hope Haven will speak at the October meeting. Hope Haven recently opened to house women ages 18 and older who were experiencing homelessness. Guzman will give details about the program. She indicated there is a need for the following items: bath soap, body wash, deodorant, shavers, feminine products, shampoo and conditioner, coffee pods, creamer, sugar. Toni Cambell said she would purchase a laundry basket to be paid for by the group and each member is asked to bring in some above items to put into the basket at the October meeting which will be given to Guzman to take back to Hope Haven.
A Thanksgiving dinner will be catered for the November meeting. The cost will be $12. Reservations and payment will be collected at the October meeting. The following members volunteered to bring pies, Bonnie Froman, Karen Hintenberger, Toni Campbell, Ellen Coffaro , Cindy McIntyre and Mary Sweeny. Mary Lou Garfield will bring brownies.
