Members Of Harmony Senior Citizens Meet For Chicken BBQ

Members of the Harmony Senior Citizens met recently for a chicken barbecue provided by Post 8647 of the VFW in Mayville.

President June Whipple welcomed members and guests and Chaplain Mary LaFredo read “Victory in Jesus”, led the Lord’s Prayer and led the salute to the flag. June read the list of members celebrating birthdays in August, which included Ruth Brown, Sylvia Erwin, Gail Keller, Lois King and Willa Rupzyk.

Hosts for today’s luncheon included Janice Hinterberger, Dottie Enlow, Dorothy Erickson, Barb Potter and Eileen Rensel.

Member Tom Smith recognized a guest, Dave L. who will turn 97 in September. He recognized other members who have or will reach the age of 90 this month including Marion Coffaro, Eloise Smith, Dorothy Whipple, Dorothy Erickson and also himself.

Secretary Wendie Raynor read the minutes of the June meeting and Treasurer Mary Lou Garfield gave the treasurer’s report. Sally Hagg and Mary Keeney volunteered to do an audit. The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were approved as read.

Cheer person, Cindy McIntyre stated she had sent a thinking of you card to Judy Prechtl. Trip chairperson Dottie Enlow reported the two recent senior trips were enjoyed by all attending: one the luncheon at the Bucket in Sugar Grove with Putt Putt played in Lakewood and the other a trip to the Warren County Fair for the Oak Ridge Boys concert. Suggestions for future trips are welcome.

Ellen Coffaro reported the United Senior Council will be meeting in August for a tureen luncheon and white elephant sale. All are welcome. She is also taking reservations for a Driver’s Safety Course to be held at the North Harmony Senior Center on Oct. 30. Reservations are due and payment due on the day of the course.

Betty Johnson gave the nomination committees report of officers for the coming year who will be installed at the September meeting. The vice president position is still open.

After discussion, a motion was made and seconded to cancel the January and February meetings and to hold a meeting on July 2. The motion was approved. A reminder if the Panama Central School is closed due to weather, the Panama Senior meeting is automatically cancelled.
