The camp at Findley offers a good space for spectators to watch the Findley Lake Triathlon.
For the seventh consecutive year, the Findley Lake Triathlon Festival, held on Saturday, July 26, attracted athletes from many states and even from Germany.
“They come from all over. We had a big group from Rochester,” said Race Co-Director Tonia Wilson. “The athletes absolutely love it here.”
Mark and Tonia Wilson, co-owners and operators of Wilson Endurance Sports, offer participants several options for race day. According to their website, Wilson Endurance Sports is a grassroots company that strives to “create fun, challenging race experiences for athletes of all ages and abilities.” The Wilsons maintain direct contact with each athlete during each event from start to finish.
Their website also notes that “events are designed to give athletes the opportunity to accomplish their individual fitness goals and our races have no cut-off times. This gives athletes at any level the opportunity to challenge themselves and compete in a non-threatening atmosphere.”
Each Wilson Endurance Sports event is held in New York state, and one in Connecticut. Participants in this year’s Findley Lake Triathlon Festival hailed from Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and South Carolina. A visitor from Germany took part in the Findley Lake Triathlon Festival, participating in the sprint.A participant from Kansas City, Mo., completed the Double Findley.

Organizers of the Findley Lake Triathlon say they have found a perfect venue in The Camp at Findley.
Options included the Sprint Triathlon, Sprint Aquabike, Olympic Triathlon, Olympic Aquabike, Double Findley, Double Findley Aquabike, Relay Team Sprint Tri and Relay Team Olympics Tri, according to Tonia.
SPRINT participants began with a 750m swim in Findley Lake, then rode a hilly 14.44 mile bike course, followed by a 5K run on the flat and fast roadway hugging the shore line of the lake.
The OLYMPIC participants competed in two loops of the swim and bike course. The 10K run continued around the lake to their appropriate turnaround point.
Tonia Wilson said this year’s triathlon was perfect. “Nobody got lost, it was a great day, and there were no injuries,” she said. “We absolutely love this race.”
Camp Findley, which has been the venue for the last three years, offers many advantages, Tonia said. “We love coming to Camp Findley. The people here are great, and spectators have a place to watch the race and everyone is relaxed,” she said.

It seems that the participants enjoyed the race, as well, Tonia said. “All of the athletes thanked us and even the fire police and passing motorists thanked us for doing this,” she said. “That’s never happened before.”
The organization has booked Camp Findley for July 26, 2026 and 15 athletes are already signed up for the triathlon, Tonia said.
While sponsorship was lower than normal, the Wilsons expressed their appreciation to the many who continue to support the event, including Lictus Oil and Propane, Tom’s Pro Bike of Buffalo, Johnson Estate Winery, Storer’s Container Service of Stockton and Southern Tier Brewing Co.
