4-H Goat Program participants performed in the Goat Arena recently in the Dairy Goat and Meat Goat Shows.

Youth were judged by Wyatt Wadams of Rochester, who evaluated youth in Showmanship Classes based on how well each youth and goat performed together. Youth in the Goat Show also participated in Dairy and Market Classes in which animals were judged on respective breed standards and in Market Classes on finish and projected carcass quality. Market Goat participants sold their animals at the 4-H Meat Animal Sale.

Cloverbuds are 4-H members under 9 years old that participate in non-competitive animal activities. This year, four youth participated in the 4-H Goat Cloverbud Program and exhibited their goats in the 4-H Goat Show. Each Cloverbud member received a variegated ribbon, trophy and a donated gift.

Cloverbud participants were: Vaeda Catanese, Randi Frank, Raven Lindsey, Adelaide Spinler and Jack Tarnowski.

4-H Goat participants showed their animals in breeding classes in which the animals were evaluated on structure, balance, breed standards and body composition. In the A.O.P. the Best Junior Doe in Show All Other Breeds is Hunter Bova with “Kissy,” Best Senior Doe in Show went to Tianna Bova with “Song.”

Tianna Bova received top honors for the Best Dam and Daughter with “Hella” and “Clover.” The Best Udder Award went to Tianna Bova with “Potato Chip.”

In the Dairy class, Tianna Bova won the following: Best Dairy Doe in Show with “Song” and Best 3 Females with “Hela, Song, and Chip.”

In the Meat Goat Breeding Class, Levi Overend with “Nyctophobia,” received Best Junior Doe and Tess Speck with ” Frenchie” received Best Senior Doe. Best Meat Doe award went to Levi Overend with “Nyctophobia.” Cody Nickerson with “Syrup” received Champion Meat Goat. Onna Warner’s goat received Reserve Champion Meat Goat. Third place went to Samantha Overend with “King of Hearts,” Fourth place went to Kendall Eckman with “Beau.” And Fifth place for Kendall Eckman with “Luke.”

In the Pygmy Goat Division, Abigail Carlberg received Grand with “Rockhaven Ranch Nischevous” and also Abigail Carlberg received Reserve Champion Pygmy with “Hickory Grove Pua-Ma.” Best Dam and Daughter was also went to Abigail Carlberg with “Hickory Grove Pua-Ma’ and ” Rockhaven Ranch Nischevous.” Best Three Females were Abigail Carlberg’s “Rockhaven Ranch Nischevous ,Hickory Grove Pua-Ma, and Hickory Groove Midnight.”

Tianna Bova won Champion Fiber Goat with “Commander.” Supreme Champion of Show went to Levi Overend with “Nyctophobia.”
