Sugar Is NCCR Dog Of The Week

Sugar
Sweet Sugar is a new arrival to NCCR. After being spotted hanging around a field in a nearby town for several days, Animal Control was notified and were able to catch her and bring her to safety. Sadly her owner never came forward to claim her, and it is believed that Sugar was dumped & abandoned. When her stray-hold time was over, she was transferred to the shelter to give her a chance at finding the happy life she deserves. Sugar is thought to be around 2 years old – no longer a puppy but still full of energy (and a little mischief!). A gorgeous mixed breed weighing 45 lbs., with a thick red-gold & cream coat and chocolate eyes, she is guessed to have some Chow and/or Husky in her mix, and probably a few other breeds too. She is wary of strangers at first, but soon makes friends as soon as she knows you mean her no harm. Treats and sweet talk go a long way with her! She seems to enjoy being around other friendly dogs, keeps her kennel tidy, and knows how to walk on a leash. She can be flighty when nervous, so special care will be necessary to keep her safe in her new home. She has been spayed and brought up to date with vet care and vaccinations, and is ready to begin her new life with you! If you can give her the patience and kindness she needs, you will be richly rewarded with lots of happy kisses and a sweetly wagging tail. You can read more about Sugar and her available friends and apply to adopt online at www.caninerescue.org, or visit the shelter in person Mon – Sat 1-3 p.m., no appointment needed.
