Rotary Club of Jamestown Honors Marion Beckerink

Marion Beckerink, president of the Rotary Club of Jamestown, was recently honored by the club for her services for 2025-26.

Beckerink received two Paul Harris Awards for being a strong and consistent supporter of the works of The Rotary Foundation during her tenure as vice president, president-elect and president. She also received her past president pin and gift from incoming president Michelle Jones.

During her tenure as president, Beckerink led the club in 24 special activities in addition to the normal workings of the club and its weekly meetings. The club participated in a charity golf tournament; registering students to vote at JCC and the State University at Fredonia; a 90-Day Polio-Plus Step Challenge; participating in the Coldest Night of the Year event; Mock Job interviews at Jamestown High School and Falconer High School; the District Youth Exchange Weekend; and the Peace Pole dedication at Jamestown High School to name a few.

Beckerink’s professional career spanned more than 40 years and included more than 20 years as a staff attorney for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. In 2014, she retired from the court and relocated to Jamestown. The following year she was hired to serve as director of development at the Robert H. Jackson Center until she retired from that position in January 2022.

Beckerink joined the Rotary Club of Jamestown in 2019 and served as club president in 2024-2025 and serves on the club’s Literacy, Environmental, Vision Membership, DEI and Vocational committees. In addition to her involvement in Rotary, Beckerink chairs the Technical and Grant Committees for the non-profit Creche Inc. organization; serves on the Altar Guild of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church; is a member of the New Neighbors Coalition; a member of the Jamestown Bar Association; and, a member of the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (I.D.E.A) Coalition since its inception when she contributed as a board member of the United Way of Southern Chautauqua. She is now the Rotary liaison to the I.D.E.A. Coalition.

In 2003, she was certified by the Executive Office of Immigration Appeals to provide pro bono legal representation for individuals seeking to exercise their legal right to asylum in United States immigration courts, as well as refugees seeking permanent residence status.n 2023, she was certified by the Executive Office of Immigration Appeals to provide pro bono legal representation for individuals seeking to exercise their legal right to asylum in United States immigration courts, as well as refugees seeking permanent residence status.

Beckerink earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA and Juris Doctorate degree from the Cleveland Marshall College of Law. She is married to retired Southwestern Central High School teacher Rod Beckerink, the man who brought her to Jamestown, and the mother of her musician son ‘Cautious Clay.’
