Panama Graduates To Host Book Signing Sunday

Pamela Reardon Brown, Paul Duval Densmore, Zora Reslink May, and Brian K. Raynor will be doing a book signing at the Harmony Historical Society on July 13.
ASHVILLE – The Harmony Historical Society will host a special book signing on Sunday, July 13, from 1 to 3 p.m., in celebration of the recently released Harmony Recollections: Mid-20th Century Narratives.
Authored by the Panama Writers Conference, Panama Central School graduates Pamela Reardon Brown, Paul Duval Densmore, Zora Reslink May and Brian K. Raynor authored Harmony Recollections, which captures the essence of small-town life in mid-20th-century town of Harmony and its surrounding countryside. The authors from North Carolina, California, and New York State met once a year for nine years to conduct interviews and research, and visit local haunts to validate memories. In more recent years, they met weekly on Zoom to discuss their writings and strategize the content and layout of the book. Set in the landscape of a close-knit community, the book blends historical reflection with storytelling that resonates across generations. This collection offers a heartfelt glimpse into the inspirational people, everyday moments, and enduring values of rural Western New York from World War II through the Vietnam era and into the 1970s.
Reflecting on the project, contributing author Paul Densmore remarked: “Our nostalgia is a sweet medicine that pauses the readers, quiets their thoughts, and allows their memory to drift them back and relive the good and happy times.”
The book signing event will be the first time the authors have gathered since the book was published in late December 2024.
Guests will have the chance to chat with the authors, have their own previously purchased books signed, or purchase signed copies of the book at the Harmony Historical Society, 1943 Open Meadows Road, Ashville, NY 14710. The event is free and open to all. For more information, visit www.harmonyhistoricalsociety.org.
