JHS Student Wins 2025 Anne Frank Humanitarian Award

The Holocaust and Social Justice Education Program of Chautauqua County, in partnership with the Hebrew Congregation of Chautauqua Institution, has named Kayamara Strudwick, a senior at Jamestown High School, as the recipient of the 2025 Anne Frank Humanitarian Award.
The award is awarded annually to one student in Chautauqua County who exemplifies the spirit of Anne Frank by working to better the world through empathy, leadership, and service. The award committee said Kayamara has blossomed into a poised, inclusive, and self-assured leader whose voice carries power and purpose.
A National Honor Society member and committee chair, Kayamara has taken on leadership roles in both academic and community spheres. She is pursuing the New York State Seal of Civic Readiness, preparing an independent research project focused on solutions to local homelessness.
In addition to her academic excellence, Kayamara is a multi-sport athlete and standout team leader for the girls’ flag football team, earning praise from her coaches as “a fantastic, positive leader.” She balances a rigorous school schedule with long hours at her part time job.
“Kayamara is a diligent leader who makes an impression in every room she enters,” said her teacher and nominator, Mrs. Rowe-Baehr. “She is thoughtful, open-minded, and motivated by a genuine desire to make a difference. She leads not with volume, but with wisdom, humility, and grace.”
Kayamara’s aspiration to become a medical professional for underserved children reflects her lifelong commitment to care, community, and justice. She is a changemaker — not in the future, but right now.
