Events Scheduled To Raise Awareness For Suicide Prevention

The Suicide Prevention Alliance of Chautauqua County will host several events in the coming weeks. They include:

– Veterans Ride for Suicide Awareness, Aug. 16 in Silver Creek. The motorcycle dice run honors veterans lost to suicide and raises awareness around mental health in the veteran community. It’s organized by the alliance’s Veteran Subcommittee. All are welcome.

– Raynor Memorial Golf Tournament, Aug. 30 at Cardinal Hills Golf Course in Randolph. The 18th annual golf tournament honors Dan Raynor and includes 18 holes of golf, giveaways, meals and camaraderie.

– United for HOPE Walk Series – A First-Ever Tri-County Effort. The inaugural tri-county walk series connecting Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua counties is an opportunity for the Southern Tier to amplify support for suicide prevention. Walks will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, in Wellsville, Saturday, Sept. 13, at Ellery Town Park in Ellery and Sept. 20 in Olean. Volunteers and day-of helpers are needed.

– Stomp Out the Stigma 5K – Sept. 27 at the Chautauqua County/Jamestown Airport. Formerly known as the Glow Run, a reimagined 5K will be held at the airport and includes a race at sunset surrounded by lights, music and glow gear. Registration opens at 5:15 p.m., and the race starts at 6:15 p.m..
