A Dunkirk man is headed to state prison for violating his probation.
District Attorney Jason Schmidt announced that 45-year-old Ronnie Walker, was sentenced by Judge David W. Foley to 11 years in state prison with 3 years of post-release supervision on a Violation of Probation.
In May 2023, Walker was arrested on five counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of drug paraphernalia following a search warrant executed by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force and the Dunkirk Police Department in the city of Dunkirk. Walker later pleaded guilty to third-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was sentenced in June 2024 to a term of 5 years of probation.
On Feb. 26, Walker was arrested by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force and Jamestown Police Department following a search warrant in the city of Jamestown on three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence. This arrest violated the terms of Walker’s probation which led to the Chautauqua County Probation Department to file a violation of probation. These charges were covered by the sentence on the Violation of Probation.
The District Attorney would like to thank the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Dunkirk Police Department, and Jamestown Police Department for their work on both cases and the Chautauqua County Department of Probation for their diligent supervision of probationers in the county.
