Studio Dance Conservatory To Host Recital Saturday

The Studio Dance Conservatory will present its annual recital, Colors 2025, on Saturday, June 14, at 4:30 p.m. in Southwestern High School’s auditorium.

Beginner through advanced dancers will perform ballet, contemporary, tap, and musical theater dance pieces. The recital is open to the public. Tickets are available pre-sale and at the door: $10 for general admission; $5 for youth 12 and under; under 5 will be admitted for free. All profits from ticket sales will be donated to the James Prendergast Free Library in memory of John A. Nord, who served on the library’s board of directors.

The entire student body will be performing Adventures in Wonderland. The original work is inspired by Lewis Carroll’s novel, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, with music by Joby Talbot originally written for the Royal Ballet’s adaptation of the story. The Studio Dance Conservatory’s version contains original ballet, contemporary, and tap choreography by Studio staff Jennie Caruso, Grace Gibbons, Daman Holland, Alyzza Zuech, and director Libby (Nord) Strand. Lydia Petry will perform the role of Alice, and Audrina Lent and Sarah DiDomenico will perform the roles of The Rabbit and The Queen of Hearts, respectively. Kaidence Clopp and Elin Fagerstrom will perform the roles of Alice’s sisters. Other featured roles include Alyzza Zuech as the Cheshire Cat, Jennie Caruso as The Mad Hatter, Madilyn Lent as The Dormouse, Lydia Kennelley as The March Hare, and guest artists Mike Giambelluca and Caleb Roller as Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum. Roller will also play the role of The Head of the Caterpillar and The Queen’s Headsman. Creative Movement dancers Chloe Lodi and Maisie Quattrone will play Woodland Fairies with Ballet I students Zoe Butler and Lainey Fagerstorm, and Ballet II student Lola Laughlin. Ballet II and III students include Miller Griffith, Arya Johnson, Karma Johnson, Lola Laughlin, Nadia Kenelley, and Eris Sharp, playing the roles of The Flowers and The Flamingos. Adult students Brooke Kelly, Terry Fera, and Alissandra McMahon will play the Queen’s Cards. Kelly will also perform in The Caterpillar. Studio Dance Conservatory alumnus Mackenzie Zuech has returned to dance The Caterpillar. Zuech will join Studio Dance Conservatory’s teaching staff in the fall after receiving her B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Penn State.

Original works presented in the first half of the program include Daman Holland’s contemporary piece Lose Control, performed by students and guest artists Jennie Caruso, Kaidence Clopp, Sarah DiDomenico, Brooke Kelly, Audrina Lent, Madilyn Lent, Lydia Petry, Alyzza Zuech, and Mackenzie Zuech. Grace Gibbons has choreographed a ballet piece to Blue Danube for ballet students Zoe Butler, Chloe Lodi, Lainey Fagerstrom, and Maisie Quattrone. She also choreographed a contemporary dance to Featherstone, featuring students Kaidence Clopp, Terry Fera, Karma Johnson, Brooke Kelly, Lydia Petry, and Alyzza Zuech. Studio Dance Conservatory Pre-Pro students and student assistants Sarah DiDomenico and Audrina Lent will perform a self-choreographed duet to Rescue. Jennie Caruso has choreographed and will perform a jazz piece to All That Jazz alongside students Sarah DiDomenico, Lydia Kennelley, Audrina Lent, Madilyn Lent, and Alyzza Zuech. Caruso has also choreographed a ballet piece to Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major, Prélude for students Sarah DiDomenico, Audrina Lent, Lydia Petry, and Alyzza Zuech.
